Republican primary voters in Idaho’s Legislative District 22 this month will choose between two sitting lawmakers to move on to the November general election.

Rep. John Vander Woude, of Meridian, has served in the House for six terms going back to 2010. Rep. Greg Ferch, of Boise, is serving his first term. Redistricting created a rectangular district of 58,770 residents stretching east of Meridian into Boise, landing Vander Woude and Ferch within the new boundaries.

The winner in the May 17 primary will face Democrat Natalie MacLachlan, of Boise, in November.

Rep. Jason Monks, of Meridian, is running unopposed in the Republican primary for another House seat. He will face Democrat Dawn Pierce, of Boise, in the general election.

In the District 22 Senate race, Sen. Lori Den Hartog, R-Meridian, is running unopposed in the primary, as are Democrat Pat Soulliere, of Meridian, and Constitution Party candidate Brendan Gomez, of Boise.

All positions have two-year terms.
