Republican and Libertarian voters on May 17 will determine which gubernatorial candidates will move on to the November general election.
Eight Republicans and two Libertarians will vie for their party nominations for the executive office in the primary. Idaho governors serve four-year terms.
Incumbent Republican Gov. Brad Little is seeking a second term and facing seven GOP challengers: Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin, Steve Bradshaw, Ben Cannady, Ed Humphreys, Ashley Jackson, Lisa Marie and Cody Usabel.
The two Libertarian candidates are John Dionne Jr. and Paul Sand.
Four other gubernatorial candidates won’t have a primary race. Those include Constitution Party candidate Chantyrose Davison, Democrat Stephen Heidt and independent Ammon Bundy. Democrat Shelby Rognstad is running as a write-in candidate.
The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the primary election candidates, and their responses are copied below, unedited. The candidates discuss COVID-19 policies, education funding and housing affordability, among other topics. Bradshaw, Cannady, Jackson, Usabel and Dionne Jr. did not respond to the survey.
