Voters on May 17 will pick a Republican nominee for lieutenant governor before the November general election.
Two House members and one political newcomer hope to secure the GOP nomination. The candidates are House Speaker Scott Bedke, of Oakley; Rep. Priscilla Giddings, of White Bird; and Daniel Gasiorowski, of Placerville.
Democrat Terri Pickens Manweiler, of Boise, and Constitution Party candidate Pro-Life (a person, formerly known as Marvin Richardson), of Emmett, also are running for lieutenant governor, but they won’t have primary races.
Idaho lieutenant governors serve four-year terms.
The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the primary election candidates, and their responses are copied below, unedited. The candidates discuss their conservative credentials and top priorities. Giddings did not respond to the survey.
