Voters in Idaho’s Legislative District 10 — which includes two Treasure Valley counties — have several choices for state Legislature positions in the Republican primary on May 17.
The district, which has roughly 53,000 voters, was redrawn during last year’s redistricting and now covers communities in Ada and Canyon counties. It includes Star, Middleton and parts of Nampa and Caldwell.
Voters will choose a senator and representatives for positions A and B. All three positions have two-year terms.
The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates in contested races, and their responses are copied below, unedited.
Rep. Tammy Nichols, R-Middleton, who has represented District 11 in the House for two terms, is making a bid for Senate against Middleton businessman Scott Brock. The two previously faced one another in the 2018 GOP primary, and the winner in May will move on to face Democrat Bob Solomon in the November general election.
In the House, longtime legislator and Majority Leader Mike Moyle, R-Star, is seeking an 11th term and running for position A against Rachel Hazelip. Hazelip did not respond to the Statesman’s survey.
Rep. Bruce Skaug, R-Nampa, is seeking his second term in the House and running for position B. Skaug faces Beverlee Furner and Coral Kenagy. Kenagy did not respond to the Statesman’s survey.
