Republican voters in Idaho’s Legislative District 21 this month will choose the party nominee for three wide-open seats in the House and Senate.

District 21 includes portions of Meridian. It is bordered by West Ustick Road on the north, East Victory Road on the south, North McDermott Road on the west and North Eagle Road on the east.

The Idaho Statesman sent out surveys to each of the candidates in contested primary races, and their responses are below, unedited.

Four candidates will square off in the May 17 GOP primary for the House position A seat: Dom Gelsomino, James Petzke, Tara Pugmire and Tyler Ricks. Pugmire and Ricks did not respond to the surveys.

The winner will face Democrat Josi Christensen, Libertarian Mike Long and Constitution Party candidate Daniel Weston in the November general election.

Three Republicans, Jeff Ehlers, Caleb Pirc and Brandon Dybdal, are running for the House position B seat. Dybal did not respond to the Statesman survey.

For the Senate seat, Meridian City Council member Treg Bernt faces Thad Butterworth. Butterworth did not respond to the survey. The primary winner will face Constitution Party candidate Monica McKinley in the November general election.

All legislative positions have two-year terms.
