Powerful Treasure Valley members of the Idaho Legislature are running for reelection in District 10.
House Speaker Mike Moyle, R-Star, faces Democratic challenger Nancy Parker, a small farmer outside of Middleton, for House seat A.
Rep. Bruce Skaug, R-Nampa, a retired attorney and House committee chair, is facing Democrat Shana Tremaine, a small business owner, for House seat B.
In the Senate, Sen. Tammy Nichols, R-Middleton, faces Democrat Letishia Silva. Nichols is one of the furthest-right Republicans in the Senate. She has previously introduced bills to make it a crime to administer mRNA vaccines and has attended protests led by activist Ammon Bundy.
Legislative District 10 covers Middleton, Star and northeast Nampa, cities in the western Treasure Valley. All legislative positions are for two-year terms.
The Idaho Statesman sent questionnaires to each candidate in a contested race. Their responses are below.
Moyle and Silva did not respond to the Statesman’s requests.
Voters can still register to vote at the polls and vote early through Nov. 1. Election Day is Nov. 5.
Canyon County residents can vote early on weekdays Oct. 21-Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Caldwell Elks Lodge, Idaho Hispanic Community Center or Southwest District Health.
Ada County residents can vote early at the Ada County Elections office, Boise City Hall, Meridian City Hall, the Eagle Public Library, Kuna City Hall and the Boise Library at Bown Crossing.
