After winning one of the spendiest and most anticipated Republican primary races in the spring, Republican Sen. Brian Lenney, R-Nampa, faces a Democratic challenger in November.

Lenney, who defeated former Sen. Jeff Agenbroad, is running against Democrat Sarah Butler, an insurance agent. Lenney is a member of the Idaho Freedom Caucus, a group of far-right lawmakers. Butler has lived in Idaho for more than 20 years and is part of the leadership of the Canyon County Democrats.

For House seat A, Democrat Cliff Hohman, an IT worker, is challenging Rep. Brent Crane, R-Nampa, a longtime lawmaker who chairs the powerful State Affairs Committee.

Republican candidate Steve Tanner is running unopposed for the House B seat.

District 13 covers parts of downtown and southeast Nampa. All legislative positions are for two-year terms.

The Idaho Statesman sent questionnaires to each candidate in a contested race. Their responses are below.

Crane did not respond to the Statesman’s requests.
