BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Gage Haws, Owyhee: Went 3-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run in the 6A SIC district championship game with an RBI double down the left-field line in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Tate Baird, Mountain View: Threw a complete-game, four-hit shutout and struck out five to clinch the Mavericks a regional berth with a 9-0 win over Timberline in the 6A SIC district tournament.
Lincoln Mathis, Rocky Mountain: Combined to pitch 4 ⅓ scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out eight as the Grizzlies clinched a 6A regional berth. He also went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBIs in two games.
Chance Schreiber, Ridgevue: Went 8-for-16 with three doubles, a home run and 11 RBIs to lift the Warhawks to an at-large berth in the 6A regional playoffs.
Ledger Downs, Skyview: Drove in three runs in Skyview’s 6-5 win over Bishop Kelly for the 5A SIC district title, finishing the week 2-for-5.
Jaxon Wade, Nampa: Earned a pair of wins on the mound to clinch Nampa a 5A regional berth. He gave up one run on eight hits and struck out nine in 13 ⅔ innings.
Coye Coffman, Fruitland: Pitched a five-inning no-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Grizzlies to their first district title since 2017.
Jace Chadez, Marsing: Threw four scoreless innings and went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI to lead the Huskies to a 3-1 win over Nampa Christian for the 3A WIC district title.
Ashton Robinson, New Plymouth: Went 6-for-11 with a double and eight RBIs as the Pilgrims earned an at-large bid to the 3A regionals.
Luke Fox, North Star Charter: Fired a five-inning, one-hit shutout and struck out nine in the 2A WIC district semifinals. He then went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Huskies won the district title.
