The field is set for the 3A high school baseball regional round. See the complete matchups, latest scores and schedule below.

This marks the first year of a new state qualification process for Idaho baseball. Twelve teams will battle in the regional round to clinch one four berths in a new double-elimination state tournament.

The Idaho High School Activities Association released the seeds and brackets Sunday and the playoffs started Friday. Idaho uses MaxPreps.com rankings to help seed the regional playoffs.

SEEDS FOR 3A REGIONAL TEAMS

The 3A regional playoffs features four separate three-team, double-elimination regional tournaments.

District champions will host each of the four tournaments. But winning a district tournament doesn’t guarantee a first-round bye.

Each league sends it top two teams to regionals. The next four highest-ranked teams in the final MaxPreps rankings receive at-large berths.

  • 1. Orofino (21-3) — District 1-2 champ
  • 2. Marsing (16-6) — District 3 champ
  • 3. Nampa Christian (17-5) — District 3 auto berth
  • 4. Grangeville (16-10) — District 1-2 auto berth
  • 5. Malad (19-6) — District 4-5 champ
  • 6. Melba (11-13) — At-large berth
  • 7. Firth (17-5) — District 6 champ
  • 8. New Plymouth (12-13) — At-large berth
  • 9. Parma (11-16) — At-large berth
  • 10. Challis-Mackay (15-8-1) — District 6 auto berth
  • 11. Wendell (9-15-1) — District 4-5 auto berth
  • 12. North Fremont (8-10-1) — At-large berth

FIRST FOUR TEAMS OUT

  • 13. Priest River (5-14)
  • 14. Soda Springs (7-10-1)
  • 15. St. Maries (4-18-0)
  • 16. Kellogg (3-16)
