Winner of the Treasure Valley softball player of the week contest (May 9 to 15)

Voting has closed in the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest.

Here are the winners. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

SOFTBALL

Lizzy Tommasini, Eagle: Went 7-for-10 with two triples and a home run at the plate, and she was 2-0 in the circle with a 1.50 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 14 innings to lead the Mustangs to a second-place finish at the 5A District Three Tournament.

Mantha Hatzenbeller, Owyhee: Led the Storm to a district title in their first season, going 6-for-10 with two doubles, two home runs and five RBIs. She also earned wins in the semifinals and finals in the pitcher’s circle.

Harper Campanella, Bishop Kelly: Doubled and drove in four runs to lead the Knights to a 6-1 win over Vallivue in the 4A District Three championship game.

Dani Sitts, Homedale: Threw a four-hit shutout and struck out 11 in the Trojans’ 3-0 win over Weiser in the 3A District Three championship. She also went 2-for-3 as the Trojans won their eighth straight district title.

Amber Thornton, Timberline: Went 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in four appearances to lead the Wolves to a 5A state tournament berth. She struck out 39 in 23 innings, allowing just 12 hits.

Tobie Noyer, Weiser: Threw a five-inning no-hitter to secure the Wolverines a 3A state tournament berth in an 11-1 win vs. Payette.

Quincy Hartley, Nampa Christian: Hit a walk-off single to clinch the Trojans a 2A state tournament berth in a 6-5 win vs. Cole Valley Christian.

Penny-Lew Barnett, Capital: Homered in three straight games to lead the Eagles to their first state tournament berth since 2012. She finished the week 4-for-9 with six RBIs.
