PLAYER OF THE YEAR

NATE MASTERSON, ST. MARIES

Why he is Player of the Year: The Lumberjacks shut out three teams and held five others to a touchdown or less on their way to a state title. The 6-2, 205-pound defensive lineman made 74 tackles with 19 tackles for loss and seven sacks while also starting at tight end.

Coach’s comment: “Nate was a matchup nightmare for OL. Really explosive kid who has a great football IQ. We could use him anywhere on the DL, and he would make plays,” St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said.

What others are saying: “The best player I have ever had to play and plan against,” Bear Lake coach Ryan Messerly said.
