Winner of the Treasure Valley baseball player of the week contest (May 2 to 8)

Voting has closed for the Treasure Valley Baseball Player of the Week contest.

Below is the winner. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Baseball: Caden Tucker, Skyview

BASEBALL

Landon Cheney, Nampa Christian: Pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight in an 18-0 victory over New Plymouth. He also doubled and drove in a run.

Nick McDaniel, Owhyee: Hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Storm to a 2-1 win over Capital in the first round of the 5A District Three Tournament.

Caden Casagrande, Bishop Kelly: Threw a one-hit shutout and struck out five in an 8-0 win over Nampa to open the 4A District Three Tournament. He also went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Mason Millar, Capital: Hit a pair of solo home runs in the Eagles’ 8-5 victory over Meridian to close out the regular season.

Owen Bowers, Vallivue: Pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out five in a 4-0 win vs. Caldwell. He also doubled and drove in two runs.

Brody Rasmussen, Mountain View: Went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs in a 10-0 rout of Meridian.

Treyton Swygart, Middleton: Struck out 10 and held Caldwell to one run on five hits in a complete-game victory to open the 4A District Three Tournament. He also went 5-for-9 with two doubles, a triple and five RBIs in three wins.

Caden Tucker, Skyview: Went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs in the Hawks’ 10-2 win over Boise in the first round of the 5A District Three Tournament.
