Winner of the Treasure Valley softball player of the week contest (May 2 to 8)

Voting has closed for the Treasure Valley Softball Player of the Week contest.

Below is the winner. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

SOFTBALL

Brooke Garman, Vallivue: Hit three home runs and drove in seven runs as part of a 5-for-5 day in the Falcons’ 20-10 win over Columbia in the first round of the 4A District Three Tournament. She finished the week 6-for-6, adding a triple, eight runs scored and three stolen bases.

Talia Jenkins, Kuna: Cranked a walk-off home run in an 8-7 win over Rocky Mountain in a 5A District Three Tournament play-in game.

Ysabella Villegas, Bishop Kelly: Went 4-for-5 with three home runs and seven RBIs in two victories.

Hailey Stevenson, Emmett: Hit three home runs and drove in five runs in the Huskies’ wins over Nampa and Columbia. She also doubled and went 4-for-7.

Jorja Crider, Middleton: Hit five home runs, drove in 10 runs and went 8-for-13 as the Vikings rolled to three victories.

Whitney Cordes, Weiser: Threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout in a 16-0 win vs. Parma. She also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the victory.

Cora Johnson, Borah: Drove in all three runs and went 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run in the Lions’ 3-2 victory vs. Centennial.

Allie Laufenburger, Capital: Held Meridian to one earned run in a pair of meetings, striking out 17 in nine innings. She also went 2-for-3 with three RBIs as the Eagles advanced to the 5A District Three Tournament for the first time since 2018.

Alexis Cudaback, Notus: Hit a home run in each of the Pirates’ three wins, going 6-for-9 with seven RBIs. She also held opponents to two earned runs on nine hits while striking out 23 in 17 innings pitched.

Jewell Bell, New Plymouth: Held opponents to one earned run while striking out 21 in 12 innings as the Pilgrims clinched the 2A WIC regular-season title.
