Winner of the Treasure Valley softball player of the week contest (April 25 to May 1)

Voting has closed in the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest.

Here is the winner. You can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Softball: Emily Zavala, Melba

SOFTBALL

Emry Woods, Eagle: Went 6-for-8 with three home runs and 13 RBIs to lead the Mustangs to three mercy-rule wins.

Pilar Cook, Bishop Kelly: Thew back-to-back shutouts, striking out 14 while allowing just three hits in 10 innings. She also went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and six RBIs.

Emily Zavala, Melba: Hit for the cycle and drove in six runs in an 18-8 victory over Nyssa. She finished the week 8-for-14 with 10 RBIs.

Olivia Asumendi, Homedale: Threw a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts, and hit a grand slam and drove in six runs in a 21-0 win at McCall-Donnelly.

Karadyn Fuller, Emmett: Struck out 17 in a one-hit shutout and 13-0, seven-inning win at Ridgevue.

Brooke Garman, Vallivue: Hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in eight RBIs in the Falcons’ 22-3 win at Nampa.

Carly Boisvert, Mountain View: Threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 13 in a 4-0 victory vs. Centennial.

Aliana Giddings, Kuna: Delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to complete the Kavemen’s come-from-behind, 5-4 win against Capital.

Amber Thornton, Timberline: Threw five combined no-hit innings while striking out 13 in wins against Boise and Meridian. She also went 4-for-6 with a double, a home run and four RBIs.

Analisa Zamora, Skyview: Went 4-for-4 with a triple, a home run and seven RBIs in the Hawks’ 18-4 win vs. Boise. She finished the week 6-for-13 with 11 RBIs.
