4th of July break-in shocks Idaho coffee shop owner. Suspect is still at large
Someone broke into Espresso-ly Yours, a local drive-thru coffee shop at 1615 Caldwell Blvd. in Nampa, over the holiday weekend and made off with a safe containing $1,100 in cash and cause $1,500 in property damage, according to shop owner Marci Adams.
Security cameras captured footage of a man forcibly entering the shop with a crowbar at 4:34 a.m. July 4.
The small coffee shop has been a neighborhood staple since opening in 1994. Adams and her husband took over the business from her sister a year ago.
In a Facebook post on July 7 describing the incident, Adams said she was stunned that the suspect “appeared to know exactly what he was there for.”
“We had to replace the door, door frame, drywall and siding for the entire side of the building where he broke in,” Adams told the Idaho Statesman. “It worked out really well for him, and as a small business this sets us back, but we’re managing.”
Adams said the stolen safe held money from daily cash drops as well as donations to Ridgevue High School’s football team, but said the business was able to open this week “despite looking a little beat up.”
The Nampa Police Department confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Adams is asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Nampa Police Dispatch non-emergency line at (208) 465-2257.
