Boise police make arrest, thank public a week after Bench bank robbery
An arrest has been made following a bank robbery on the Boise Bench last week.
In a news release, the Boise Police Department stated the man they believe responsible for the robbery was located in Boise and taken into custody on Monday. The 39-year-old faces one charge of felony robbery.
Police said last week that on April 14 just before 1 p.m., the man robbed a bank at the corner of Vista Avenue and Overland Road. In the initial report of the incident, police said the man fled on foot with “an undisclosed amount of cash.”
BPD released images showing the suspect. In the footage, a man was seen wearing a dark hoodie, baseball hat, sunglasses and a surgical mask. Police said the suspect did not display a weapon, and no injuries were reported.
After the incident, police took to social media requesting the public’s help in finding the man. A day after the robbery, they said they no longer needed information.
“We want to thank everyone who sent in tips and shared the message,” Sgt. Justin Kendall said in the release Tuesday. “We are grateful to have a strong partnership with our community that helps keep our city safe.”
