Coronavirus: Boise Team Hope walk goes virtual; Idaho has low case count Sunday
Boise’s Team Hope Walk will go virtual this year because of the coronavirus.
The event — a fundraiser for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America — will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, and the location is up to you. Participants can choose their own course, whether you want to walk around your neighborhood or on a treadmill.
Team Hope walks are held all across the nation, as thousands turn out to support those diagnosed with Huntington’s, a genetic disease that can fatally impact nerve cells in the brain.

Community Advantage Recovery Loan Program
A new U.S. Small Business Administration program is now available to help small businesses during the pandemic. The Community Advantage Recovery Loan (CARL) Program provides loans with free consulting aimed at helping businesses through the economic downturn.
Benefits of the program include fast availability of funds for approved borrowers and the first six months of payments being forgiven, according to a news release sent out Monday. Loans of up to $250,000 are an option, with funds available in 10 business days or less.
The program is only available for a limited time, however, and loans must be approved by Sept. 27. Businesses can access the program through MoFi, a community-based lender that specializes in helping those not served by traditional financial institutions.
“As small businesses across the Northern Rockies and Inland Northwest continue to feel the impact of the pandemic, this new SBA program is a great option to help with their financial recovery,” said Dave Glaser, President of MoFi, in a news release. “The Paycheck Protection Program allowed many businesses across the region to keep their employees on payroll through spring and early summer. Now, this program can help them pivot to the future.”
To access the program through MoFi, businesses must be located in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Eastern Washington (Asotin, Spokane and Whitman Counties) or Eastern Oregon (Malheur County).

Idaho cases hit seven-week low Sunday, but only 4 health districts report numbers
While Idaho saw its lowest new coronavirus case count in over seven weeks, the cause could likely be because three health districts did not update their statistics.
A total of 182 new cases were reported Sunday, bringing Idaho’s total to 25,872 confirmed coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Sunday was the first time Idaho reported less than 200 cases in a day since June 27, when 116 cases were reported.
The low number comes with a caveat: three of the state’s seven health districts did not report any new cases. The three districts that didn’t report were the Panhandle Health District, Idaho North Central District and Southeastern Idaho Public Health.
From the numbers that were reported Sunday, Canyon County reported the most new cases — 54. Its total was 6,042 confirmed cases as of Sunday. Ada was just behind with 44 new cases, bringing its total to 9,365.
Double-digit COVID-19 cases were also reported in Jefferson (10) and Bonneville (36) counties.
No new deaths were reported Sunday, and Idaho’s death total remains at 269.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported three new “probable cases,” bringing that total to 1,819. Of those with the virus, IDHW reports that 10,833 are believed to be recovered.
The state health department reported that 222,668 tests have been completed in Idaho as of Sunday, and about 11.6% of those tests have been positive.
COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in all of Idaho’s 44 counties: Ada 9,365, Adams 21, Bannock 482, Bear Lake 27, Benewah 70, Bingham 340, Blaine 569, Boise 41, Bonner 186, Bonneville 1,088, Boundary 39, Butte 1, Camas 1, Canyon 6,042, Caribou 33, Cassia 498, Clark 11, Clearwater 16, Custer 11, Elmore 213, Franklin 46, Fremont 82, Gem 169, Gooding 162, Idaho 34, Jefferson 219, Jerome 467, Kootenai 1,973, Latah 125, Lemhi 43, Lewis 4, Lincoln 55, Madison 153, Minidoka 471, Nez Perce 159, Oneida 13, Owyhee 253, Payette 408, Power 68, Shoshone 166, Teton 83, Twin Falls 1,369, Valley 73 and Washington 223.
