Restaurant News

Two Chinese restaurants have closed for now — one in Boise, one in Meridian

If you’re craving kung pao at your favorite Chinese takeout spot, heads up: The doors might be locked.

Two local Asian restaurants in the Treasure Valley have shuttered for the time being.

Old-school favorite Wok-Inn Noodle, 4912 W. Emerald St., is temporarily closed, according to its Google listing. A message on the door of the longtime Boise restaurant indicates that it is “closed for repair.” No information about the timeline is provided. Wok-Inn rates 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp and 4.5 out of 5 on Google.

And in Meridian, Joy Garden has gone dark at 2951 E. Overland Road, suite 125. A message on its front door reads, “Sorry, we will be temporarily closed from July 5th to July 22nd.” No reason for the shutdown is given. Its Yelp rating is 3 stars. On Google? 3.9.

The encouraging news for customers? Neither restaurant’s down time appears to be a long-term thing.

You’d be forgiven for reacting with a bit of paranoia, though. Last year, a barrage of permanent closures struck Chinese restaurants in the Boise area for various reasons.
