This restaurant and brewery closed near Boise. An out-of-stater will move in
A mom-and-pop brewery from Texas is preparing to expand to the Boise Foothills.
Gather Brewing Co., which operates in the San Antonio suburb of Universal City, will open its second location roughly 1,600 miles away — at Avimor, the planned community near Eagle.
Gather founders Mike and Rachel Voeller plan to take over the former home of Spring Creek Brewing Co., which shuttered recently at 18651 N. Streams Edge Way after five years of beer and wood-fired pizzas.
The couple shared the news on Gather Brewing Co.’s social media.
“While on a trip to Idaho with family just a few weeks ago, we visited this beautiful brewery just north of Boise and learned it was about to close its doors,” they wrote. “We had already fallen in love with the area and could not shake the feeling that we should see if there might be an opportunity for Gather there.”
The target date to open the new Idaho destination is March, they added.
Gather debuted in Universal City in December 2021, according to its website. “The brewery regularly hosts community events, live music, markets and family-focused gatherings,” it says. “Gather is designed to be a space for neighbors, families and friends to connect and feel like they belong.”
Gather’s restaurant component is a large part of the Voellers’ business model. “A former Coast Guard chef and his wife deliver creativity in the beer and food at this Universal City brewery,” San Antonio Magazine noted.
Gather Brewing Co.’s current pub menu offers an array of options ranging from fish and chips, beer and barley soup and a meatball parmesan sub to the Gather smashburger, various pizzas and Korean brisket tacos.
Gather Brewing Co. rates 4.5 out of 5 stars on Yelp and 4.7 out of 5 on Google.
“Fun atmosphere. Friendly wait staff. Good pizza. Nice selection of beer. Live music is fun outside,” a Google reviewer wrote. “Definitely one of the places to stop when we are in town.”
