1A DIVISION II ALL-IDAHO PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Conner Simpson, Carey

Big things come in small packages. The 5-foot-3, 150-pound junior proved that this year, leading the Panthers to the state finals with 1,992 rushing yards and 34 TDs. He averaged 13.1 yards per carry and scored on one out of every 4.4 carries. He dominated as a defensive back, too, with 89 tackles and four interceptions, following in the footsteps of his brother, Carson, the 2019 player of the year.

“He is just a flat-out force on the football field,” Garden Valley coach Jason Yearsley said.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Zane Hobart, Kendrick

He led a team with just one senior to its first state title in 20 years behind a defense that posted four shutouts.

FIRST TEAM

OFFENSE

QB: Ty Keopp, Kendrick

The 6-2, 175-pound sophomore led the state champs’ offense with 2,379 total yards and 46 TDs as a dual-threat weapon.

RB: Blayne Meyer, Horseshoe Bend

It took multiple tacklers to bring down the 5-10, 170-pound junior, who finished with 1,410 total yards and 15 TDs.

RB: Adam Ball, Mullan-St. Regis

Blowouts limited the 6-1, 200-pound senior to 57 carries. He still turned those into 997 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 17.5 yards per carry.

WR: Jett Shaw, Dietrich

Opponents knew they had to stop the 5-11 senior. But he still racked up 60 catches for 747 yards and nine TDs to make the first team again.

WR: Ethan Roland, Castleford

A threat as a runner and receiver, the 6-3 junior turned 75 offensive touches into 1,444 total yards and 23 touchdowns.

OL: Keegan Smith, Horseshoe Bend

The senior’s size (6-3, 240), power and speed made him a force as a first-team selection on both lines.

OL: Dallas Morgan, Kendrick

The 6-3, 230-pound sophomore returned to the Tigers after a year off, providing lane-clearing force to the state champs’ front.

OL: Evan Fontes, Castleford

The Wolves moved the 6-foot, 250-pound senior to center, where he provided a bulldozing force and stable shotgun snapper.

K: Cris Gamino, Carey

The junior moves up from the second team after sending 62-of-80 (77%) of his kickoffs for a touchback.

DEFENSE

DL: Keegan Smith, Horseshoe Bend

The Long Pin Defensive Player of the Year and a repeat first-team defensive lineman finished with 64 tackles and 11 tackles.

DL: Dallas Morgan, Kendrick

He made the first team on both lines as a one-man wrecking crew off the edge for the state champions.

DL: Luke Trogden, Mullan-St. Regis

The 6-foot, 200-pound senior played multiple positions, racking up 72 tackles, 16 TFLs, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles and two blocked punts.

LB: Maison Anderson, Kendrick

The Tigers’ only senior, he provided valuable leadership while also plugging running lanes and making plays from sideline to sideline.

LB: Adam Ball, Mullan-St. Regis

The first-team running back racked up 94 tackles to make the All-Idaho defense again after second-team honors last year.

LB: Eric Taylor, Castleford

A second-team quarterback, the 6-1, 180-pound senior had a hand in everything defensively, with 106 tackles, 14 TFLs and three sacks.

DB: Jagger Hewett, Kendrick

The 5-10 junior kept everyone in front of him, made a class-leading seven interceptions and provided crucial run support.

DB: Jett Shaw, Dietrich

A repeat first-team defensive back, the Sawtooth Conference Defensive Player of the Year had seven picks to go along with 70 tackles.

P: Salvador Camarillo, Hansen

The junior offensive/defensive lineman averaged 48.3 yards on 16 punts, including a long of 82 yards.
