4A All-Idaho girls basketball team: The best of the best from a loaded classification

Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: BRINLEY CANNON, SHELLEY

The pick: The two-time player of the year led the Russets to a 25-0 record and a state title. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

Coach’s comment: “This player is invaluable on both ends of the floor. She is an offensive threat anywhere on the court. She can shoot deep 3’s, and get to the rim off the attack,” Shelley coach Jessica Carlson said.

What others are saying: “The scouting report always started with, ‘Good luck stopping that kid.’ The combination of size, skill and athleticism was really unmatched. Her ability to see the floor and play the game was awesome to watch, not so great to prepare for,” Bishop Kelly coach Derek McCormick said.

What’s next: Cannon has signed with BYU.
