2A All-Idaho girls basketball team | 2022
Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: ELLIE WATSON, ABERDEEN
Why she is player of the year: The 5-11 senior center led the Tigers to the best finish in program history with a second-place trophy at state. A true inside and outside threat, she averaged 18.6 points and 8.8 rebounds despite constant defensive attention.
Coach’s comment: “She was face-guarded and double-teamed the whole season, and she just stayed in her role and competed. It was never just about her,” Aberdeen coach Lincoln Driscoll said.
What others are saying: “Ellie does everything well. She can score, rebound, defend, and did it very consistently this year. She affects the game in so many ways with her size, length and understanding of the game,” Melba coach David Lenz said.
What’s next: She’ll contend as one of the top returning shot putters and discus throwers at the 2A level in track and field.
ELLIE FRAAS, COLE VALLEY CHRISTIAN
Her future may be on the volleyball court, where she’s committed to Masters University in California. But the 6-1 senior wing left a legacy on the basketball court as well, making the All-Idaho team for the third time after averaging 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2.7 assists.
LYNDSIE KROGH, COLE VALLEY CHRISTIAN
The 6-foot senior wing teamed with Fraas to form the nucleus of the Chargers as they broke through for their first state title. She finished the year with 12.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
CAMDEN BARGER, GRANGEVILLE
A four-year starter and three-time Central Idaho League MVP, the 5-6 senior point guard wraps up her decorated career as a repeat first-team selection. She racked up 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 4.1 steals per game to lead the Bulldogs to a third-place trophy.
KENDALL CLARK, MELBA
The 5-11 junior forward moves up to the first team after a second-team selection a year ago. One of the state’s best all-around athletes, she battled through a knee injury to average 11.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.6 steals.
COACH OF THE YEAR: MATT BEGLINGER, COLE VALLEY CHRISTIAN
He guided a perennial power to its first state title after years of state tournament heartbreak.
