5A All-Idaho softball team: Meet the star-studded lineup of all-state players

Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.

IDAHO 5A SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Emma McGuire

Blackfoot, jr., C/SS

A second-team pick last year, the cerebral backstop with a cannon for an arm took home the top award after leading the Broncos to the state finals. The Idaho State commit hit. 544 and teed off with a 5A-leading 15 home runs to drive in 50 runs and slug 1.156.

IDAHO 5A SOFTBALL COACH OF THE YEAR

Tammy Sorenson

Blackfoot

She led the Broncos (21-11) to the first state tournament trophy in program history, taking second after winning 10 of their final 12 games.

IDAHO 5A SOFTBALL ALL-STATE FIRST TEAM

Mya Weatherly

Hillcrest, sr., C

A second-team pick last season, the Snow College commit moved up after leading 5A in slugging (1.347) while hitting .573 with 14 home runs.

Kenadi Whitlow

Middleton, jr., C/1B

The top threat in the state champs’ lineup, she led 5A in on-base percentage (.713). She also hit .615 and slugged 1.108 with 37 RBIs.

Olivia Watt

Bishop Kelly, jr., CF

The spark plug atop the Knights’ lineup, she topped 5A with a .616 batting average. She scored 46 runs, hit five homers and stole 13 bases.

Oakley Scheibe

Emmett, jr., P/RF

The 5A SIC Player of the Year hit .542 and shined in the circle, going 4-5 with a 3.94 ERA and averaging 12.9 strikeouts per seven innings.

Sophia Kassotis

Vallivue, so., CF

She carried a potent bat, hitting .515 with eight homers and 47 RBIs. Her arm served as another weapon, gunning down four baserunners.

Braylin Iverson

Twin Falls, sr., SS

The four-year starter and Great Basin Player of the Year finished her career leading 5A in hits (59) with a .551 average and 33 RBIs.

Ady Olmos

Burley, so., P/3B

A two-time first-team selection, she carried Burley to state as its top pitcher (6.45 ERA) and hitter, batting .537 with 21 stolen bases.

Gracie Longhurst

Bonneville, jr., P/LF

She led 5A in innings pitched (129), wins (16-6), ERA (2.00), strikeouts (218) and complete games (26) to make her second first-team appearance.

Grace Chambers

Skyview, jr., 2B/SS

The middle infielder raked all season long, driving in a 5A-leading 51 runs while hitting .535 with six home runs and 43 runs scored.

Azlinn Bullock

Pocatello, sr., C/SS

An injury forced her to essentially play on one leg all season. The four-year year starter still hit .567 while playing two key defensive positions.

Marki Chilton

Hillcrest, so., 3B/P

The fences were always within reach for this sophomore, who hit .506 with 11 home runs, 43 RBIs and a 1.111 slugging percentage.
