Treasure Valley track athletes of the week (May 5 to 11)

GIRLS TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Isla Anderson, Skyview: Won the 200 (25.88), 400 (57.63) and ran a leg on the Hawks’ winning 4x200 relay (1:45.69) at the 5A SIC district meet. She also placed second in the 4x400 relay (4:07.44).

Natalie Ruth, Meadows Valley: Cleared a personal-best 9-0 to win the pole vault at the 2A District Three meet at New Plymouth High. It is currently tied for the sixth-best jump in the classification this season.

Jenna Cortright, Payette: Qualified for state in four events, winning the 100 (12.85), placing second in the 200 (26.67) and pole vault (11-0) and fourth in the high jump (4-6) at the 4A SRV district meet. Her 200 time is a school record.

Alyssa Hust, Victory Charter: Swept the 1,600 (5:36.28) and 3,200 (11:45.91) and placed second in the 800 (2:30.39) at the 2A District Three meet. Her 3,200 time was a meet and school record as the Vipers won the team title.

Charlotte Dunn, Cascade: Won the long jump (15-3), placed fourth in the high jump (4-8) and ran a leg on the Ramblers’ fourth-place 4x100 relay (56.82) at the 2A District Three meet at New Plymouth.

Hannah Bingham, Meridian: Ran a personal-best and state-leading 56.58 to win the 400 at the 6A SIC meet. She also qualified for state in the 100 (12.93), placing sixth.

Eliana Ti’a, Centennial: Qualified for state in four events, winning the javelin in a personal-best 129-10, taking second in the high jump (5-2), fifth in the long jump (17-1) and running a leg on the Patriots’ fourth-place 4x100 relay (48.96) at the 6A SIC district meet.

Claire Matthews, Weiser: Won four events at the 4A SRV district meet, sweeping the 800 (2:24.00), 1,600 (5:25.25), 3,200 (11:46.58) and medley relay (1:55.42).

Avery Reece, Nampa Christian: Qualified for state in four events, winning the 100 (12.33), 200 (24.89), 100 hurdles (15.21) and long jump (17-5.5) at the 3A District Three meet. Her 100 and 200 times were district meet and school records.

Eden Francis, Capital: Qualified for state in four events, winning the long jump in a personal-best 18-1.5, running a leg on the Eagles’ district-record setting 4x100 relay (46.95), taking second in the javelin (113-10) and placing third in the 100 hurdles (15.34).

BOYS TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Carson Hacking, Victory Charter: Won the 3,200 (10:03.14) and 1,600 (4:59.7) and anchored the Vipers’ winning medley relay (3:52.16). He was also part of Victory Charter’s third-place 4x400 relay (3:43.98), which helped the Vipers secure the 2A District Three meet title over Liberty Charter by one point.

Garrett Rogers, Cascade: Set personal bests in winning the 400 (52.50) and high jump (6-2) at the 2A District Three meet at New Plymouth High School.

Paul Anderson, Rocky Mountain: Became the first Idaho pole vaulter to clear 16-0 this season, hitting the mark to win the 6A SIC district meet and qualify for state.

Carver Martin, Meridian: Jumped a personal-best and state-leading 23-5.75 to win the long jump at the 6A SIC district meet.

Kenyon Carter, Emmett: Qualified for state in four events, winning the 110 hurdles (14.22), 300 hurdles (39.97) and running a leg on the Huskies’ first-place 4x100 relay (42.68). He also took third in the 100 (11.16) at the 5A SIC district meet.

Reed Martin, Bishop Kelly: Swept the shot put (54-3), discus (163-0) and javelin (153-11) at the 5A SIC district meet. All three marks were personal bests.

Luke Mills, Nampa Christian: Finished first in the 100 (11.21), 4x100 relay (43.74) and 4x200 relay (1:29.54) at the 3A District Three meet. He also placed second in the 200 (22.79).

Peyton Waters, Tri-Valley: Set personal bests in winning the 110 hurdles (17.09) and 300 hurdles (41.99) at the 2A District Three meet. He also ran a leg on the Titans’ runner-up medley relay (3:53.39).

Tegon Lords, Nampa: Surpassed the boys 300 hurdles meet record by more than 1 second, running away with a victory in 36.89 at the 6A SIC district meet. He also placed second in the 110 hurdles (13.86).

4x400 relay, Kuna: Izaki Abongela, Owen Waters, Izaiah Allen-Heinrich and Myles Johnson-Nicholson teamed up to win the event in a state-leading and 6A SIC district meet record 3:19.31.
