Winners of the Treasure Valley athletes of the week (Feb. 10 to 16)

Voting has closed for the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest sponsored by Edmark Toyota.

Here are the winners, and you can read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

  • Girls basketball: Aaliyah Kennedy, Caldwell
  • Boys basketball: Dylan Collom, Liberty Charter
  • Wrestling: Shekinah Talamantez, Nampa

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Peyton McFarland, Boise: The senior racked up 32 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Brave to a 57-45 win over Eagle in a winner-to-state game. She needed just two points to surpass 1,000 career points.

Alyssa Christensen, New Plymouth: The junior had 15 points and 10 rebounds, hit a 3-pointer to force overtime, and then blocked a last-second shot in the Pilgrims’ 47-44 win over Nampa Christian in a winner-to-state game. She missed nearly all of last season with a knee injury.

Aaliyah Kennedy, Caldwell: The senior scored a team-high 15 points and sank 11-of-12 free throws to lead the Cougars to their first district championship with a 47-37 win vs. Middleton.

Elise Boockholdt, Eagle: The senior averaged 14 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists over three games as the Mustangs rallied through a state play-in game to qualify for the 5A state tournament.

Trinity Slocum, Mountain View: The junior took over the last four minutes of the 5A District 3 championship game, finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals to lead the Mavs to back-to-back titles.

Sintia Varela, Rimrock: The junior scored a game-high 16 points and added four rebounds and four steals as the Raiders suffocated Liberty Charter 42-16 for the 1A Division I District Three title.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Dylan Collom, Liberty Charter: The senior tallied 18 points and three blocks in just 19 minutes as the Patriots routed Greenleaf 61-32.

Blake Thurston, Cascade: The junior helped the Ramblers wrap up a Long Pin Conference regular-season title with 26 points, six rebounds and four steals in a 69-59 win vs. Council.

Austin Bolt, Borah: The senior recorded a double-double of 31 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lions to a 70-49 win over Meridian. He also had 20 points and 13 rebounds in a 46-31 win at Timberline.

Jake Williams, Kuna: The senior poured in 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting to lead the Kavemen to a 58-55 win over Middleton, snapping the Vikings’ 12-game winning streak.

Matt Hall, New Plymouth: The sophomore racked up 12 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Pilgrims to a 54-52 victory vs. Nampa Christian.

Joe Henggeler, Fruitland: The senior scored 20 points, including 18 in the second half, to carry the Grizzlies to a 69-55 win over Homedale.

Levi Teriipaia, Skyview: The senior had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Hawks to a 54-49 win over Mountain View in a 5A District Three play-in game.

Gavin White, Nampa: The senior racked up 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to a 50-44 win over Kuna.

WRESTLING

Shekinah Talamantez, Nampa: The senior pinned two opponents in a combined 49 seconds to win the 159-pound title at the unofficial girls state championship.

Jocelyn Bautista, Caldwell: The sophomore scored a 9-3 decision, then a pair of pins to win the 100-pound division at the unofficial girls state championship.

Savannah Turner, Homedale: The junior scored pins in 34 seconds, 33 seconds and 72 seconds to roll to the 129-pound title at the unofficial girls state championship.

Payton Lanningham, Columbia: The senior pinned all three opponents she faced to secure the 148-pound title at the unofficial girls state championship.
