Winners of the Treasure Valley athletes of the week (Jan. 6 to 12)

The high school sports calendar revved back into full gear last week, and athletes throughout the Treasure Valley showed no signs of rust from the winter break.

We dug through the best performances to bring you the latest Treasure Valley Athletes of the Week contest sponsored by Edmark Toyota.

Polls close at noon Wednesday. Read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Peyton McFarland, Boise: The senior racked up 20 points and 10 rebounds against Mountain View, then added 19 points and five rebounds vs. Rocky Mountain.

Makayla DeBry, Rocky Mountain: The senior racked up 21 points and four assists to lead the Grizzlies to a 62-52, upset victory over No. 3-ranked Boise.

Megan Hancock, Parma: The senior tallied 18 points and four steals in a 64-35 win over 4A Vallivue, then added 22 points and three steals in a 55-20, 3A SRV victory against Weiser.

Jade Martinez, Caldwell: The senior racked up 14 points, seven rebounds and seven steals in the Cougars’ 32-26 win over Bishop Kelly.

Ky Olsen, Greenleaf: The senior led the Grizzlies to a 45-26 win over Idaho City with 20 points and five steals.

Miaja Mills, Kuna: The senior recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds to carry the Kavemen to a 44-38 victory over Nampa.

Kaija Zoller, Riverstone: The freshman had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the Otters’ 54-31 league victory over North Star Charter, then added six points and 16 rebounds against Notus.

Madi Fritts, Fruitland: The junior drained six 3-pointers en route to 23 points in one of Fruitland’s three victories last week. She averaged 12 points as the Grizzlies went 3-0 with a pair of league wins.

Abbi Roubidoux, Fruitland: The freshman averaged 12 points, five steals and three assists as the Grizzlies went 3-0 last week.

Abby Smith, Fruitland: Despite standing as the shortest player on the team, the senior averaged eight points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in three victories.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Josh Underwood, Capital: The senior put up a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Eagles’ 49-47 victory vs. Skyview.

Cody Moosman, Cascade: The senior led the Ramblers to a pair of big Long Pin Conference wins over Garden Valley and Salmon River, averaging 13 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.5 steals.

Tyler Robinett, Middleton: The senior racked up 19 points and eight rebounds in a 63-45, league victory over Bishop Kelly. He then added 15 points, eight rebounds and a monster dunk in a 38-23, nonconference win over No. 5 Minico.

Tanner Hayhurst, Eagle: The senior led the Mustangs to wins over Mountain View and Eagle while averaging 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists in three games.

Covy Kelly, Garden Valley: The junior poured in 35 points to lead the Wolverines to a 66-49 win over Tri-Valley.

Brett Spencer, Weiser: The sophomore erupted for 28 points in a win over Filer, then added 19 points to beat Vale, Oregon.

Austin Bolt, Borah: The senior posted two more double-doubles last week. He added 10 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Skyview, then added 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lions past Timberline.

Rusty VanderWoude, Nampa Christian: The junior scored 24 points to lead the No. 2-ranked Trojans to a 66-62 win over No. 3 Melba.

WRESTLING
