Good news: Boise State opener is on national TV. Weird news: Date and time
Start preparing your excuses to be near a television during a late August work day, Boise State fans.
The Broncos announced that their season opener at South Florida in Tampa will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 3:30 p.m. Mountain time to accommodate the ESPN broadcast schedule.
This will be the fifth straight season that Boise State opens on the road, and the third time in five years it opens on ESPN.
The game will mark the first meeting between Boise State and USF, but the Broncos have experience being in the Sunshine State to usher in a new season. It happened in 2019, when they beat Florida State 36-31 in Tallahassee, and again in 2021, when they lost 36-31 to UCF in Orlando.
Boise State will have at least two games in high-profile TV slots in 2025. The program announced Monday that its Oct. 4 game against Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, will air on NBC.
