Boise State reveals timeline for ambitious renovation of Albertsons Stadium’s north end
Boise State’s renovation of the north end of Albertsons Stadium could be done in time for the 2025 football season, the university announced Thursday.
The university released a timeline of the project, setting an estimated date of completion as August 2025.
The renovation of the north end includes the addition of premium and general admission seating, loge boxes and field-level suites and the construction of a dining hall, complete with an industrial-grade kitchen that will serve all of Boise State’s athletes and coaches. It also includes upgraded concessions and restrooms in the stadium.
Construction could begin as soon as April 2024, according to the university and documents from the Division of Public Works.
The project is expected to cost an estimated $32 million — $2.4 million of which is earmarked for the planning and design phase, according to Public Works. Boise State estimated last October that the project would cost between $32 and $40 million.
The proposed budget must be approved by the Idaho State Board of Education before the project advances to the construction phase. The deadline for companies to submit bids to Public Works was Thursday.
Expanding the north end of the stadium is part of Boise State’s ambitious plan to upgrade just about all of its athletic facilities, creating an athletic village on campus. The vision, coined the “Playbook for Success,” also includes upgrades to ExtraMile Arena, and the construction of a soccer stadium and a 5,000-seat arena on campus, among other projects.
In all, it’s expected to cost more than $300 million, the university announced in August.
