Boise State adds a second linebacker with Power 5 offers to 2021 recruiting class
For the second time since April, Boise State added a linebacker with Power Five scholarship offers to its 2021 recruiting class.
On Sunday, Oklahoma City native Rejhan Tatum announced his commitment on Twitter.
Tatum is a three-star inside linebacker and the No. 17 overall recruit in Oklahoma, according to 247Sports’ composite rating. He also has offers from Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UTSA.
In April, Jai Jones — a three-star linebacker from Dallas, Texas — became the first player to commit to Boise State’s 2021 class. He passed on offers from LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M and Baylor among other Power Five schools, according to 247Sports.
Tatum narrowed his list of prospective schools down to three in July, focusing on Boise State, Oklahoma State and Baylor, according to the Oklahoman.
The 6-foot-2, 224-pound defender led Del City High School last season with 151 tackles and added four sacks and three fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also helped lead Del City to Oklahoma’s Class 6A-II state semifinals.
Boise State’s coaches are obviously looking to the future of the position, as two of the team’s top three returning linebackers are seniors. Riley Whimpey led the team last season with 83 tackles, and Benton Whickersham finished third with 63.
Ezekial Noah is a redshirt junior, who missed all but four games last fall, and the Broncos added graduate transfer linebacker Brock Miller in January, but he only has one year of eligibility remaining.
Tatum is the sixth known recruit in Boise State’s 2021 class, which 247sports ranks No. 8 in the Mountain West and No. 106 in the country.
