Boise State basketball adds another tall inside threat in transfer portal
Boise State men’s basketball continued to dip into the transfer portal this weekend, adding junior college center Jikany Deang.
Deang, who’ll be a junior for the 2026-27 season, arrives having spent two years with North Dakota State College of Science. He announced his commitment to Boise State via social media on Saturday.
Deang becomes the third transfer to commit to Boise State this spring, alongside postgraduate point guard Damari Wheeler-Thomas from North Dakota State and redshirt sophomore forward Jerquarius Stanback from Alabama State.
Alongside the 6-foot-9 Stanback, Deang is listed as 6-foot-11, as head coach Leon Rice and his staff continue to add size to the Broncos’ frontcourt.
Deang started in 31 of the Wildcats’ 32 games last season as they finished with a 26-6 record. He averaged a second-best 17.6 points on the team, while shooting 46.3% from the field, 36.2% from 3-point range and 81.5% from the free throw line. He also averaged 9.2 rebounds per game.
The college basketball transfer portal closes on Tuesday after being open for two weeks, leaving Boise State with little time to add any further players. The Broncos lost four players to the portal, and along with graduations, their entire starting lineup departed.
