The Nampa City Council election will look a little different this year. For the first time in the city’s history, voters will choose city council members who must live and run in their own newly created districts.

State law now requires that every city with 100,000 or more residents must elect its council by district, not at large. July 2022 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau peg Nampa’s population at nearly 111,000 residents.

In December 2022, Nampa adopted the new map breaking the city into six districts with 16,000 to 17,000 residents each.

Nampa’s new City Council districts. District 1 is made up of voters living mostly north and immediately south of Interstate 84. District 2 is southeast Nampa. District 3 is most of downtown Nampa. District 4 is south Nampa. District 5 is west Nampa, near Lake Lowell. District 6 is northwest Nampa.
