A man brought his son to an Idaho shopping mall and gave him a “surprise of a lifetime.”

Dan Hihath won a chance to play The Big Spin from a $5 scratch game, the Idaho Lottery said in a July 29 news release.

He took his son to the Boise Towne Square so he could spin a big wheel and have a chance at winning $150,000, lottery officials said.

“I didn’t tell him before the event I had actually won the Spin. It was a complete surprise,” Hihath told lottery officials.

The boy was stunned when Hihath walked by the game and appeared to randomly ask if he could play.

He watched his dad spin the big wheel and win $70,000, officials said.

Now, his dad has plans to use the prize money on a trip for his son, who is a youth soccer player. The boy was picked to attend a training academy with Real Madrid in Spain for a week, his dad said.

Another Idaho resident, Michael Hankins, also got to spin the wheel and won $60,000.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
