This long-awaited direct flight comes to the Boise Airport in December
Get ready to say aloha, Treasure Valley.
The Boise Airport will have a daily seasonal direct flight to Honolulu only available during the winter months. Tickets are already available to purchase.
Alaska Airlines announced it will offer one daily flight from the Boise Airport to the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu beginning Dec. 17 and running through March 21.
Honolulu will become the Boise Airport’s 29th direct destination, and this route will be the only nonstop service to Hawaii in Idaho.
The seven-hour flight, aboard a Boeing 737 MAX, will depart from Boise at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Honolulu at 2:20 p.m. local time every day, according to a press release issued by Alaska Airlines. The six-hour flight back departs from Honolulu at 12:42 p.m. local time and gets into Boise at 9:45 p.m.
Those interested can now purchase tickets on Alaska’s website, which shows fares in December start at $611 round trip.
The airline said this route allows passengers, both in Hawaii and Idaho, to travel for winter holidays and spring vacations. From Honolulu, the nonstop flight accommodates same-day connections to Hawaii’s other islands, the release said.
“The Honolulu route builds on recent Boise growth, including seasonal Anchorage service, and reflects Alaska’s focus on connecting the community to places travelers want to go,” Alaska Airlines stated.
The Boise Airport has had its eye on a Hawaii direct flight for some time.
“Hawaii is consistently one of our passengers’ most requested destinations, and we’re thrilled to see this highly anticipated route become a reality,” the airport’s interim director, Kathleen Watkins, said in a statement.
Combining travel to Maui, Kauai, Kona and Honolulu, Hawaii ranked as the No. 7 most-favored travel destination for Boise passengers in 2025, according to previous Idaho Statesman reporting.
In 2024, when Alaska Airlines acquired Hawaiian Airlines in a $1.9 billion deal, the merger sparked hope that the airline might launch the nonstop flight. Former Boise Airport Director Rebecca Hupp previously told the Statesman that getting the nonstop service to Hawaii was a key priority for the airport.
As the Boise Airport continues to grow, both in size and the number of passengers traveling through, the airport continues to expand its nonstop routes.
On June 10, Alaska began service on a new route from Boise to Anchorage, Alaska twice a week during the summer on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The route is expected to run through mid-August, and is the first time Boise passengers could fly nonstop to Alaska.
The airport is also adding more direct options to established destinations this year. In June, Frontier Airlines announced it will launch a nonstop route between Boise and Las Vegas starting Sept. 10, operating four times a week.
In 2025, more than 5 million passengers traveled through the Boise Airport, which set a travel record. The numbers have only increased in the first part of 2026. According to the airport’s records, passenger traffic is ahead 1.3% compared to the same time last year.
