A 68-year-old Nampa man died in a car crash Tuesday afternoon on Banks Lowman Road in Boise County, according to Idaho State Police.

Police responded to a multi-vehicle accident around 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a Wednesday news release.

A 72-year-old woman was driving westbound on Banks Lowman Road, which runs between Banks and Lowman along the South Fork Payette River, in a Chevrolet SUV when she failed to stop at a stop sign. The SUV, of which the 68-year-old man was a passenger, was then struck by a Ford van driven by a 23-year-old woman from Boise.

The SUV went off the road and into the embankment, state police said. The 68-year-old man died from his injuries at the scene.

The 72-year-old driver, also from Nampa, was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance, while the 23-year-old driver of the Ford van was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance, state police said.

All lanes of traffic were blocked for approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes as police dealt with the accident. Idaho State Police are still investigating the incident.

All occupants of the incident were wearing seat belts, according to the news release.
