Boise man dies in single-vehicle crash on Idaho 55; traffic blocked for 3 hours

A single-vehicle crash near Donnelly left a 59-year-old Boise man dead.

The crash — which may have involved alcohol — occurred on Idaho 55 near milepost 128 at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from Idaho State Police. The man, who was wearing his seat belt, was driving a GMC pickup truck southbound on the highway when he tried to pass another vehicle on roads that were icy, and he drove off the northbound shoulder and hit a culvert.

He was taken to a hospital, according to the release, but he died from his injuries. State police said they found evidence that indicates “alcohol may have been involved” in the crash.

The crash caused traffic to be blocked along all lanes of the highway for roughly three hours, according to the release. State police were investigating.
