A 59-year-old Nampa man died Saturday after a tire came off another vehicle and hit the car he was driving, according to an Idaho State Police news release.

The crash happened about 9:50 p.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 38 in Nampa, the news release said.

A tire and wheel came off a pickup truck, which was driven by a juvenile from Caldwell and headed east on I-84. The wheel crossed the center median, went into the westbound lane and hit a Subaru Forester driven by the Nampa man.

The Subaru hit a barrier and stopped on the right shoulder, according to Idaho State Police. The driver died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, the news release said.

The road was blocked for about three hours.
