Zoobilee fundraiser goes virtual this year. Help Zoo Boise and avoid the coronavirus
You can still go wild at this year’s Zoobilee, but you’ll be doing so from the comfort of your own home.
Yep, Zoo Boise’s annual fundraiser is going virtual due to the COVID-19 crisis.
I know, the social butterfly in us dearly misses in-person events, but safety first.
Plus, couch parties can be fun!
Zoobilee will be live-streamed from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 28 and will feature a live auction, raffle and special behind-the-scenes videos, including zoo baby announcements and never-before-seen Zoo Boise animals.
And an online silent auction will be available for guests a week leading up to the event.
What’s up for bids? How about dinner for 10 at Chandlers Steakhouse, a private Wine Safari, Proof sunglasses, and a cooking class at the Basque market, to name a few. You can even win the chance to name the baby nyala, which is an African antelope. Check out the list of auction goodies at zooboise2020.ggo.bid/bidding/package-browse.
Zoobilee is free to access. You’ll just need to sign up (also free) to bid on items and buy raffle tickets.
Wanna make it a real party? Invite a few friends, put on your best Roaring ‘20s-themed outfit and order a special VIP Party in a Box. Delivered to Treasure Valley residents, the package contains appetizers and desserts from local restaurants, and lemon juice and honey mixers for the event’s signature cocktail, the Bee’s Knees (you provide your own liquor).
For a more intimate party, a VIP Party in a Box for two is available for pick up at the zoo only (no deliveries).
Boxes are available to order until Friday, Aug. 14, if they don’t sell out before then.
The 10th annual event is a fundraiser for “Zoo Boise and its mission of connecting visitors with animals to inspire and involve our community in the conservation of wildlife worldwide,” according to a press release.
