Down from 3 days to one, outdoor blues concert benefits scholarships for Idahoans

Got the blues? Of course we do, thanks to the pandemic.

But if you’re in the mood for some cool blues, then Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell has your back this weekend.

COVID-19 has affected yet another annual event, but Blues on Indian Creek still will take place. Originally scheduled for July 31-Aug. 2, the concert has been changed to just one day — Saturday, Aug. 1 — because of the availability of touring bands.

We should be so grateful though, right? After all, one day is vastly better than no days. And the event surprisingly avoided the “virtual bus” that every other activity has had to hop on during these times.

So for those interested in leaving the house to get an earful of dynamic blues, head on down to Indian Creek Plaza, 120 S. Kimball, Caldwell, on Saturday for a concert from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The lineup is as follows:

▪ Michele Eastland and Justin Nielsen duet, 7 to 7:45 p.m.

▪ Cyndie Lee and Pure Silver, 7:45 to 8:30 p.m.

▪ Billy Blues Band, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

▪ The Blues Saviors featuring Tim “Too Slim” Langford, Tim Childs, Bob Umphress and Barry Carlman, 9:30 to 11 p.m.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

The blues celebration, presented by JP Productions, is a benefit for the Brad Carrow Scholarship Fund, which “promotes Caldwell School District #132 student-athletes to continue their education and to participate in college sports,” and the SK8 Ribbon Coalition, a “program that offers free ice skating and lessons to give every child the chance to gain confidence through ice skating, regardless of their ability to pay.”
