Suspected homicide closes portion of Boise Greenbelt. Police still investigating
Police closed off a section of the Boise River Greenbelt on Monday morning after responding to reports of an “unresponsive man” on the north side of the path near 11th Street.
When Boise Police Department officers arrived at the scene at around 7:30 a.m., they found the man deceased, according to a news release from the agency, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
The incident occurred sometime after midnight, according to the release. No suspect has been identified, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790, and they are seeking any available surveillance footage along the Greenbelt and surrounding areas.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name once his next of kin has been notified, the release said.
The Greenbelt between Pioneer Pathway and 11th Street is expected to remain closed for several more hours, the agency said just after 3 p.m. Detour signs have been posted.
This is the second homicide to occur in Ada County this year, according to statewide data maintained by Idaho State Police.
