Nampa man being held on $1 million bond for allegedly enticing a child online
The Nampa Police Department arrested a man on a felony warrant for alleged enticement of a child, and the suspect previously was convicted for being involved in a violent attack on a woman in the Boise Foothills in 2019.
Police arrested 36-year-old Kevin Michael Ivey, of Nampa, on May 18, according to a police news release, which said the Nampa department received information about Ivey’s online communications with a minor child and began an investigation.
Detectives found evidence indicating Ivey was enticing a child through online means and obtained an arrest warrant, the release stated. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Canyon County jail on a $1 million bond.
On May 19, detectives searched Ivey’s home and seized his electronic devices. Police said additional charges could be filed after a forensic examination of the devices. The release also asked anyone with information on this case or similar criminal activity to contact law enforcement, and encouraged parents to monitor children’s online activity and discuss internet safety.
Ivey was charged and later sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for his role in an attack on a 20-year-old woman in the Boise Foothills six years ago. Court records show Ivey had to serve three years in prison before becoming eligible for parole. According to previous Idaho Statesman reporting in that case, three men and a woman were involved in hitting the victim with a rock, stabbing her and leaving her on Sunset Peak Road.
Ivey pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in aggravated battery.
In the child enticement case, Ivey will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 28 at 8:30 a.m.
