Suspect in standoff with Boise police arrested on domestic violence charges

After a standoff with officers on Monday, a 29-year-old Boise man was booked into jail on accusations of domestic violence, according to the Boise Police Department.

Craig Quilici is charged on suspicion of felony domestic violence and felony attempted strangulation, but the arrest came only after police said they spent hours trying to get him to surrender.

Police were called at around 8 a.m. Monday to the scene of a domestic dispute that was reported to have happened Sunday night. Officers at 32nd and Gooding streets were told the suspect was the only person in the home.

Police said they tried to contact Quilici but he refused to exit the home or speak with officers. Because he was in a residence that was part of a fourplex, officers evacuated the three other attached residences, according to a news release.

By 9 a.m., police called a crisis negotiation team and special operation unit to the scene.

“After several hours of speaking with the suspect, he surrendered and was taken into custody without incident,” according to the news release. “Upon further investigation, officers found evidence that before the suspect surrendered, he crawled through the attic to enter each of the attached residences before returning to his own unit.”

Quilici remained in custody Monday afternoon at the Ada County Jail.
