Idaho man sentenced to prison term after pleading guilty to 2019 Boise stabbing
A Boise man convicted of stabbing a man last summer was sent to prison after he was sentenced Thursday in an Ada County courtroom.
Danny Joe Krueger, 47, was given a term of 30 years in prison, and he will be eligible for parole after 13, according to a news release from the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office.
Krueger pleaded guilty in March to a felony count of aggravated battery with an enhancement for using a deadly weapon in commission of a crime. In return for his plea, Ada County prosecutors dropped a felony burglary charge and another enhancement for inflicting serious bodily injury.
Krueger was arrested last July after he broke into a Boise home on the 5500 block of Gary Lane and “repeatedly stabbed” a man when the man and another person entered. The man survived the attack but suffered life-threatening injuries. The other person was able to flee the home in search of help.
During Krueger’s sentencing Thursday, District Judge Lynn Norton “noted the serious nature of the offense,” according to the prosecutor’s office.
In the news release, Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts thanked a good Samaritan who was driving by and helped corral Krueger until police got to the home to arrest him.
““Their actions contributed to saving the victim’s life and certainly played a role in the successful detainment of the defendant, which eventually led to a successful prosecution by our office,” Bennetts said in the news release.
Krueger will be transferred to the Idaho Department of Corrections to begin his prison term. As of Friday morning, he was still in the custody of the Ada County jail.
