Georgia man pleads guilty to beating Boise-area woman with metal bar outside her home

A Georgia man pleaded guilty Friday to felony charges after he waited for a woman and attacked her in November at her home in Hidden Springs.

Craig Falk, 64, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery, burglary and an enhancement for the use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime. He is the brother of the victim’s ex-husband, authorities reported.

Ada County Sheriff’s Office authorities said Falk approached the woman in her garage, repeatedly striking her in the face and head with a metal bar. The woman had just pulled into her garage in Hidden Springs, a planned community northwest of Boise.

Prosecutors said in December that the victim reportedly told police that her ex-husband had previously threatened to kill her. She told police she was “surprised she hadn’t been shot.”

Authorities said she needed several staples in her head to repair wounds, and when officers arrived, she was soaked in her own blood. Neighbors heard the fight and called 911.

Law enforcement apparently searched Falk’s rental car after the attack and found information about the victim, including her name and address. They also found several lists for items such as gloves, knives, a screwdriver, a hat, big bags and a change of clothes, according to prosecutors.

Falk is set for sentencing at 9 a.m. Aug. 27. He remains in custody, with bond set at $250,000.

Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon enhancement could be punishable by up to 30 years in prison and burglary could be punishable by up to 10.
