Suspect in Boise-area beating targeted woman before he beat her, prosecutor says
A 64-year-old Georgia man accused of attacking a woman Friday in Hidden Springs is the brother of the victim’s ex-husband, prosecutors outlined during his arraignment Monday.
Craig Robert Falk is charged with aggravated battery and burglary on accusations of approaching the woman in her garage and repeatedly striking her in the face and head with a metal bar.
According to the sheriff’s office, the woman had pulled into the garage of her home in Hidden Springs, a planned community northwest of Boise, when Falk allegedly attacked her.
The victim reportedly told police that her ex-husband had previously threatened to kill her. She told police she was “surprised she hadn’t been shot,” according to the prosecution.
Prosecutors told Magistrate Judge Russell Comstock on Monday that the woman suffered a concussion, and she needed several staples in her head to repair wounds. When officers arrived, she was soaked in her own blood.
Neighbors heard the commotion and called 911. A Boise police officer found a man in the area who fit the description. The officer found a metal bar, which was used in the attack, on the ground nearby, according to the sheriff’s office.
Law enforcement apparently searched Falk’s rental car and found information about the victim, including her name and address. They also found several lists for items such as gloves, knives, a screw driver, a hat, big bags and a change of clothes, according to prosecutors.
Falk remains in custody at the Ada County Jail with bond set at $250,000. His next court appearance is set for Dec. 12.
