Georgia man arrested for reportedly beating a woman at her Boise-area home

A 64-year-old man from Georgia is in police custody after reportedly targeting and attacking a woman in her Boise-area home on Friday, according to a news release on the Ada County Sheriff’s Office blog.

Craig Robert Falk is charged with burglary and aggravated battery, both felonies. He remained in the Ada County Jail on Tuesday with bond set at $250,000.

According to the sheriff’s office, a woman had pulled into the garage of her home in Hidden Springs, a planned community northwest of Boise, around 7 p.m. Friday evening. She had exited her car when she was approached by a man she didn’t recognize. The victim, who has not been publicly identified, told police the man began beating her over the head with a metal bar.

A neighbor reportedly heard “what sounded like an animal attack” and went to investigate, according to law enforcement.

“The neighbor ran over to a nearby home and saw a man standing in the alleyway next to a garage, dressed in a long coat and holding a club in his hand, who immediately walked away,” officials said in the sheriff’s blog.

The neighbor saw the injured victim inside a nearby vehicle and called 911. Other neighbors joined, helped move the woman inside, and began first aid.

When Boise Police Department officers and sheriff’s deputies arrived, they began searching for the man. The victim was taken to a local hospital “for what appear to be serious head injuries.”

A Boise police officer found Falk near the crime scene. Falk fit the description of the attacker, and the metal bar used in the attack was on the ground nearby.

According to the sheriff’s department, officials believe Falk targeted the victim and the incident was not a random attack. Deputies are still investigating motives, and additional charges are possible.

If convicted, Falk could face 10 to 15 years in prison for each charge. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12 at 8:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
