Coroner identifies Idaho resident killed in I-84 car crash Thursday near Meridian

The Ada County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a car crash last week along Interstate 84 near Meridian.

In a news release Tuesday morning, the coroner’s office named 29-year-old Caldwell resident Travis Pierce as the deceased. His death was ruled an accident, as the result of blunt-force injuries sustained in the crash.

Idaho State Police said the crash took place around 3:30 p.m. Thursday along I-84’s eastbound lanes between Ten Mile and Meridian roads.

After investigating, troopers say that Pierce’s Kia SUV was stopped on the left shoulder of the interstate before it was hit by a pickup truck. The impact caused the Kia to move across all four lanes before stopping on the right shoulder of the interstate.

The coroner’s office report, as well as ISP, indicated Pierce died at the scene just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The pickup truck driver was not hospitalized after the crash, according to ISP.

Two eastbound lanes were closed for three hours after the crash. State police are investigating the crash.
