One man killed after Interstate 84 crash near Meridian. Here’s what happened

One man is dead after a car crash along Interstate 84 near Meridian.

According to a news release from the Idaho State Police, troopers were sent to the scene of a two-car crash that took place about 3:30 p.m. Thursday along I-84 between Ten Mile and Meridian roads.

Investigators say that a Kia SUV was stopped on the left shoulder of eastbound lanes when it was hit by a Dodge pickup truck. The force from the crash pushed the Kia SUV across all four lanes of the interstate and onto the right shoulder of the interstate.

The driver of the Kia, a 29-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Thursday evening, police could not confirm the man’s city of residence. The man’s name was expected to be released later by the Ada County Coroner’s Office.

The Dodge pickup driver, a 42-year-old Boise woman, was not taken to a hospital after the crash.

Two eastbound lanes were closed because of the crash, as traffic was slowed for three hours as first responders and investigators cleared the scene.

The crash was under investigation by ISP.
