One dead, others injured after Wednesday morning car crash in Caldwell

A teenager was killed Wednesday morning in an early-morning car crash near Caldwell.

At 5:46 a.m., Idaho State Police troopers were called to the intersection of Farmway and Ustick roads just west of Caldwell. Troopers found that a car had struck a pickup truck in the intersection, according to a news release from ISP.

Police said the car, driven by a male under the age of 18, was going east on Ustick when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The car then struck the driver’s side of the pickup, which was driven by a 60-year-old man. There were three passengers in the teenager’s car.

State police say the teenage driver of the car died at the scene. They did not release the driver’s name or exact age but said that next of kin had been notified.

The passenger in the car’s front seat was taken to Saint Alphonsus in Boise in an ambulance, police said, but the two other passengers were not injured.

The man driving the pickup was taken to Caldwell’s West Valley Medical Center via private vehicle, according to police. The extent of his and the car passenger’s injuries was not released.

The intersection was blocked for roughly two hours as first responders cleared the scene. The crash is under further investigation, police said.
