The Ada County Coroner’s Office has identified the 66-year-old paddleboarder who drowned at Quinn’s Pond.

Chen-Tsung Chiang, of Taipei City, Taiwan, died Friday after he went under the water and didn’t resurface, according to news releases from the Coroner’s Office and the Boise Fire Department. Quinn’s Pond is a 22-acre pond just west of downtown Boise’s West End.

The Fire Department’s dive team located Chiang around 5:20 p.m. after responders spent over an hour searching for him, authorities said. Paramedics and firefighters attempted to perform life-saving measures, and Chiang was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise but died in the emergency department, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The Coroner’s Office said Chiang died from drowning and ruled his death an accident.
