A 20-year-old Texas man has died after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 on Thursday night, Idaho State Police said in a news release Saturday.

The Idaho Statesman previously reported that the Houston man was driving eastbound near the I-84 and I-184 Connector interchange in a Chevrolet passenger van when he struck the rear end of a Saturn driven by a 43-year-old Garden City man. Police said the crash caused the Saturn to hit a barrier and stop, while the passenger van “rolled and came to rest in the roadway.”

The man from Houston, who was not wearing a seat belt, died of his injuries at a Boise hospital; police have not publicly named him.

The driver of the Saturn was wearing a seat belt and was also taken to a hospital.

The crash blocked eastbound I-84 lanes for several hours. Idaho State Police are still investigating.
